Cables -- All the Same Brand?

Do all kinds of gear and rooms sound the same? What if one source is more revealing(or brighter) than another, should you still use the same cables between the two sources and your pre?

For example, as you move up WW's line, their cables become more detailed too. In a reflective room with revealing gear, their lower lines may have better synergy.

Or what if you don't like what a certain brand's speaker cables sound like, but love their interconnects and power cords, or vice versa? Another example, I love what MIT's MA series speaker cables do for imaging and soundstage in my room, but find their interconnects too colored and rolled off.

To lock yourself into one brand or line is closed minded IMO.

On that point, I will say that in my system I've heard the biggest differences with speaker and preamp-to-amp. Those differences were noted with B&K amps in the system; I haven't tried this with my MC501s, but likely will upon my next system reconfiguration.

If people are prioritizing their power/or even speaker cables that tells me that the amps are colored and being boss. I guess you can tell alot by people's priority in cabling as to how their system's resolution nerfs the source. Changing out source cabling and having little or no effect will show up in these cable priority lists by amp cabling showing as number 1.

It should never be amp cabling or speaker, it should be source cabling having the biggest impact. This also make sense on this board to, since a majority of posters are using mac power and all it does is re-inforce my opinion on Mcintosh solid state amps being overbearing with the house brand.

I am not trying to piss anybody off but just trying unravel the mystery of system building for people. Its just that simple, source everything should be #1 to get the best sound out of your system. Then move down to pre amps and power which also are important tweaks in getting your own personal musical vibe in order......
