After reading your response I do see an example of the brand/language loyalty that is so prevalent between the two camps. I too have used/programmed/fixed both machines since 1981 and have never seen anything worth having from MacIntosh since 2004. I'm not saying that Windows is heads and shoulders above Mac but Mac only having a 3% - 20% market share of users cannot be ignored (depending of the source of the data and the time the question is asked). I’ve heard it said that only more intelligent people use Mac, but that would be wrong. Each type machine has its purpose. Just because you are responding to this thread on a Mac Book Pro does not lend any strength to your argument. So exactly where is the USB port anyway?? What peripherals are required and how much are they? Are they only Mac branded? IS the letter "Q" on the touchscreen anywhere? I've heard it isn't. Why can't I flash to it? No HDMI, no webcam, no multi-taking, movies in 4:3 and proprietary apps only. klipschfan - Have you read the bottom of that CNET article? There aren't too many people that like it.

It's clearly not true in the literal sense because I don't know what else you would call MacPros, iMacs, and MacBooks if not computers. They are also not toy-like in their build. My Macs are built extremely well, and have been 100% reliable. I say this after years of Dells, HPs, IBMs, etc. Living and working in Silicon Valley for 20+ years, I've tried them all. It's also not true in a not-so-literaral sense. If anythings, with the underlying Unix-based operating system and shell commands, the Mac operating system is as powerful and as non-toy as they get. I am not an Apple fan-boy – if anything, the company I work for is seen by many as a major Apple competitor – but I give credit where credit is due. The Mac laptops, desktops, etc., are what computers should be both in terms of hardware and software. The only thing one could say about Apple computers is that they are expensive. Yes, they are. I grant you that - but worth the extra money IMO. As a software engineering professional living and working in Silicon Valley, for 20+ years I've used lots of HW and SW both for work and at home. I don't work, or have ever worked, for Apple, but both at work and at home, I have chosen Apple for the past few years as my computers. For programming, business applications, personal applications and entertainment. I would say that the same applies to at least 70% of all the other computer professionals I know (excluding my friends who work for Microsoft of course - even though there are plenty of closet Apple users ever there.) Alberto P.S. I don't consider the iPhone a toy either. Next to my computer, it's my #1 business tool for staying in touch via email and other applications. |

By the way, it does have a "Q" on its virtual keyboard. Where did the idea that it doesn't have one come from?

by GetOutMore April 2, 2010 8:56 PM PDT Apple is essentially saying "We think the letter Q is a sucky letter, so you won't see it on the sites you visit." Even though Q may be a sucky letter, it is still in use on bajillions of sites. So maybe.... Like this2 people like this comment
