Ultimately is the 805D worth the extra money? I can’t say it is worth the asking price charged by B&W but I can say that I believe it is an improvement over the 805S and I would be happy to own a pair…. |

Is $1400 too much for a pair of minty 805s? No boxes or stands.

I had a pair of 805S before. They were great for the price!

When you say "original", is it the N805 or 805S?

Love the 805's...have owned the 805N and the 805s... currently using the 805N in the bedroom system with a McIntosh 6300. One day I will probably move to the 805D but it takes me a little time to move up the chain.

Mike,
If it is $1400 for the "S" model 805, it would be a very good buy. I have never heard the "N", but know the "S" and "D" models well...both are excellent speakers, and as Lakesailor has mentioned, there is a step up between them, but if you never heard the "D" the "S" would look after you well. A lot more bass out of these than most people expect as well.

I'll call up the shop tomorrow and ask which version. I think it's the S but I'll check. I have a pair of very solid SoundAnchor speakers stands that should be very nice with the 805.

I would like to purchase four 805D loudspeakers w/ stands & one HTM4 w/stand for my hometheater- so I am a fan too!
Any recommendations for comparisons before I audition & any recommendations to matching processor & 5 Channel amp? I currently have a a Yamaha Receiver (RXV1800) & two JL Audio F113 sub-woofers. It's a toss up if I need a processor since Yamaha has pre-outs & works very well. Right now, I am making the excuse that the internal amps won't sound as good as a big external amp-which is easy to justify. The speakers I have aren't sounding like I want to plus I am at point I want to change to a different set- you know the justify-able itch |
