802D1 to 802D3? Worth it?
During the audition I had to ask the sales rep if there was a sub turned on There was so much bass.

Levinson gear. Not my favorite. 250 watts per channel though. I won’t have that kind of power but will have more refinement. (Ayre)

So far behind.... 802D3 vs Matrix 802 III
So yes, I have enjoyed my Matrix 802s for 18 years, but it is time to upgrade. What can I expect with the 802 D3s now. The Matrix 802s have been a bit poor in the low end, and I have had an ASW 3000 to beef up the low end. The room is 24x24 with a 19ft cathedral ceiling. Your guidance and wisdom is appreciated! And yes, the amp will be upgraded too.

D2 from D1 - improved the diamond tweeter. Less harsh. More refined. D3 from D2. Wow. Where to start. Tweeter and binding posts unchanged but everything else Continuum driver is a gem. I never quite liked the Kevlar. It had a pronounced mid bass which sometimes drowned out the lower bass frequencies. It sounded really good with 80s rock but with most music, the midbass was apparent. Continuum changed that. Aero foil bass drivers Turning the curvature of the baffle around made a big difference. Instead of a flat front For me the gem was the 803D3. First time you could get the Marlin head on a smaller cabinet for smaller rooms. 804D3 to 803D3 improvement is very very apparent.
