Hi Aditya,

Just out of interest, have you done anything special connecting the W20 to your network ?

After including an "audiophile" network switch in my much more humble system, I find that streaming from Tidal or direct from the Aurenders harddrive is as good as the same sound quality.

The benefits of dual aes/ebu are enjoyed with dsd and 24 bit recordings. Recordings lower than that are sent through one cable only. This holds true with my auditions, which I have done. Normal cd quality stuff, can’t hear a difference between single and dual. The difference comes to life when I play dsd and hires recordings.

The W20 performs its best when it’s being timed by an external clock.

Having said all this, the W20 sounds better than the n10, there isn’t a doubt in my mind. You just have to decide if the cost is worthwhile for you. It’s about a 10k difference plus the aes ebu cables. That’s a lot of money, and perhaps it’s beneficial to look at your system and assess if there are other components that you can upgrade to get you a better sonic benefit. For me it was

Does the W20 sound better than the N100h if I'm only using USB? My dac doesnt have dual Aes inputs.

Yes, it most certainly does. I haven't compared the two, but have compared the N100 to the N10 and the delta was not subtle. FWIW I compared the N10 to the W20 and i thought that the delta was greater than going from the N100 to the N10.

Thanks for the insight ... I’ll have to take a listen then!

Default Purchased W20

Well I took the plunge to update from the N10 to the W20. At this point I can't take advantage of a clock or dual XLR but still think its a good move. I really really like the Aurender brand and just think the top model will take my system to a higher level.

I have played some with Roon but just seem to get past the interface. Also the separate computer. I know the Aurender option costs more but for me the easy of use, the great customer support and obviously the great sound is well worth it. Will report once I get it in hour probably a couple of weeks.

The N10 does not have a battery backup.
The question I have if the batteries are used for all functions during operation then is a great power cord needed? I'm thinking why waste the money and just use the stock power cord. Have you tried that? If not it maybe interesting to try. Actually if this works then a great savings can be had to shrink the cost difference between the N10 and W20. As we all know the cost of a new component is usually much more then just the component - between cables and isolation the component at times is the least expensive of the group. In my case with a Nordost Odin its about a break even in your case with the WW silver electra power cord not so much but still a savings. I can use this cable somewhere else in my media room which would be great. Thoughts?

If I get a dCS Rossini DAC + dCS's External Clock, so.... can I use the dCS's External clock to clock also the W20 ?

The W20 is quite old now (by digital standards which count in months...), so are there some rumors about a W20 Successor ?
