Right Now I am using a MC-207 for all the HT Channels. I will admit that when I had 501's (Long Story) hooked up to them the bass was almost too pronounced, but I felt that the 501's (which were almost tube-like in their smoothness), when paired with the Cremonas in my room were almost (forgive me) too liquid, too smooth, and too laid back for my tastes. I think that a MC-402 would be just right for them. But again, my MX-135 is not a C-500 or an MDA-1000. Another problem I have is my room setup. I spoke to 2uberoller about my room setup, and we both agree that my room setup is FAR from what I need it to be, but the problem is that the room is set up with the screen as the focal point of the HT, and it is in the only place it can be. I will see what I can do about that. |

Knowing the 501s for 3 years in my own system, it was not the amp that made the bass too pronounced in your room, it is the speaker positioning. The 207 is not the 501s when it comes to bass and that is understood by the inherent design difference of monoblocks with a dedicated power supply vs a 7 channel amp in one chassis. But that is neither here nor there now that you don't have the 501s. So what really needs to happen now is to re-position your speakers to get a bit of wall reinforcement of bass. Not as great as natural bass from an amp with control over the speaker but it will help. |

Oracle...PM sent...Ill try to get a picture up for you to help. Thanks.
O know the 207 isn't a pair of 501s. One of the reasons I got rid of my (3) 501s and (1) 402 was real estate; I didnt have enough room in my room for everything, and the system was WAY overkill for he size. Also, the extra money was put into a REL B1 and Shunyata cords and Hydra 6. Last edited by Uberbrown; 04-28-2009 at 12:09 AM. |
