Default Hi-Fi Tuning Fuse

Has anyone tried a Hi-Fi Tuning fuse with Pass gear?

I installed it with the point going in, but not sure if the direction of the fuse holder is the same as my old gear. Need to test further, but would love to hear your experience.

Josh.......As bazaar as it sounds I found that there was a difference in the sound depending on the direction of the fuse in the fuse holder on my McIntosh gear. I would spend some hours listening, then turn the fuse around and listen to the same music again. If it happens for you like it did for me and others, you will prefer the sound better one way over the other. Please keep us informed.

I definitely will but my right ear / sinus is messed right now so I'm just playing at very low volume until I finish my Z-pack and everything clears up.

Here's an interesting anecdote... RickU has my old Hi-Fi Tuning Original fuse that he put into his MC452. He was moving his speakers and adjusting his subs to get it right but something wasn't quite right, so he put the stock fuse back in and the sound returned to what he was used to previously. He kept texting me in disbelief and will go back and try the other orientation tomorrow. He's a pretty straight-shooter and couldn't believe a little fuse could make any different, but he sure seems to think it was pretty dramatic. Hope to hear more of his story shortly...

That fuse really surprised me. I'll try reversing the hifi when it's the only change. If it has the ability to change the sound character, it's gotta be considered an important factor. I'm going to mark the oem fuse so I can put it back the same way. Yes I'm crazy.

The direction of the Hi-Fi Tuning fuse is very important. The good news is, the difference between both directions is pretty dramatic. So it's very easy to spot what side you will prefer. In one direction it'll sound dark and slower. The other side will sound lively, airy highs and more dynamic. The difference is truly night and day.

I installed these fuses in my Magnepan 20.7s and I will look into the directionality issue

(BTW - this sounds like a crazy tweak, but hey we are audiophiles and nothing is too far-fetched for us in search of even better sound)

This is a worthwhile tweak. Hi-Fi Tuning Supreme Fuses sound better than standard fuses. You will notice the improvement immediately provided that you have worked out the orientation for your equipment.

I use them in all McIntosh MC2301 amplifiers & the C1000 pre-amp too.

I truly believe that all you fine folks could hear a difference with the use high end fuses as well as a difference when you turn them around in the holder. But for the life of me I can't figure out why. Can anyone help me understand? I think I may be missing out on a new tweak!

Ed.......I have pondered this myself. Perhaps it is a combination of a number of things. I think the ceramic enclosure versus glass enclosure may reduced vibration. Perhaps the fuse wire being made from silver and gold in combination with premium silver solder delivers a lower resistance while dissipating heat more efficiently and may contribute to better current flow through the fuse. I am not an electrical engineer so my opinion is merely speculation. What I do know is I can hear a difference when HiFi Tuning Supreme fuses are installed and the difference sounds better to me.

Steve, Are the fuses labelled so once you find the best orientation, you just use the same for the rest of the fuses?
