Default Just ordered 802 D3s

I auditioned some Focal Sopra 3s and B&W 802 D3s at the store today. First I listened to the Sopras .. driven with all Mark Levinson electronics. I immediately found them to be too dry and analytical for my taste. I next heard the 802 D3s fed by all McIntosh gear. My current home system consists of N802s with a Mac MC-352. I really liked the warmer sound of the 802 D3s and ordered a pair. I was offered an in home audition, but the store has an honest 30 day return policy so I just dropped the hammer. I've pretty much listened to all the speakers around here and wanted to get something going.
I'm toying with the idea of getting an MC 452 or 462 to complete my upgrade. I love having a great sounding system, but have not really enjoyed the research and decision making process. I'm glad my speaker search is over !

Thrilled with my 802 D3's driven by Mac C2600/MC601's. I also did an extended audition of the MC452 and was thrilled with the sound. The mistake was hearing them with the 601's which had better bass control, imaging and a sweeter top end. Buy a MC452 and don't look back. There is always something just a little better out there.

Congratulations on the 802d3.
I recently brought home the 802d3 with pair of 611. Music nirvana
I am planning to add a good preamp, and looking at C52 and C2600.

Thanks all-- If I had the space, I would have gone monos for the amp. My dealer just told me MC-452s are all sold out, but they had an MC-462, so that's getting delivered tomorrow. Weird, I had not done anything with my system for close to 20 years but bought a new preamp a couple of weeks ago (Moon 740P) and was amazed at the improvement. The wheels started turning and now when everything arrives, I will have a complete new system ! I'm pretty old and if I last another 20 years, hearing aids will be the next big upgrade

Congrats - these are great speakers and paired with Mac gear make a sweet sound! You will truly love these - just spend the time to get them placed right in your room as that does make a difference IMHO
