As there are no distributors and at double the pricing, I had to choose Jeff's. At least, I am sure they are 240v version and had strong & reliable backup from our common friend Ron O.

Since you are into listening, do really listen to the higher end Criterion and 300 series monoblocks. Though not as powerful as the Spectrons, the build and sound level is really nice. Pricing too ..... over here, easily S$70k for the 4 piece family combo (preamp is 2 piece outfit)! I would have, if I had the Sasha's or Rockport Aquila or Altair... serious!

Yeah, the Spectrons are about $13k per pair and Singapore is covered by a distributor out of Indonesia.

I am not sure which of the Rowland's I saw at Ron's place but I do not think he had any at that price level at the time.

Someone North of me just sold off a complete Rowland system on A-gon.

These are new Jim.

The Criterion are 2 piece outfit ... and the 300 series comes in various forms, a stereo one piece, usual mono amps and if I am not wrong, there is one for multi channel (3??) I think.

Ron just had them like a month ago. As with all Jeff Rowland amps, they are simply gorgeous in build. His new Class D amps are great. Go give them a listen, who knows, you might be hooked to buy one set too! Ha! Ha!

Remember Ron is a salesman. He was steering me away from Rowland before the new stuff came out. Tell Ron and his sister I said Hi next time you are in his shop.

No if I ever moved away from the 1.2ks my short list would be MBL, Pass or possibly the Ayre MX-R's.

Is this the pre you were talking about?

Definitely Jim, will send your regards to both Ron and Cheng.

Yes, the picture is the new Criterion Preamp. The power amps are can also be seen in Jeff's website.

I would agree on the MBL and Ayre ...... somehow, I have a liking for the new Jeff pre/power combo. Playing them thru the Rockport is something to be experienced.

Cheers!

I believe you. Does he have them in the center room or are they set up in the Theater Room.

At this time, the largest room is still the "new" MBL Reference showcase. By the way, last I saw were 3 pairs of the older 101E's. Told me they were trade in's for the newer MkII version! Was told the carbon materials for the mids and highs are different now as well as that the woofer is of metal instead of paper. The ports are now more recessed and that the MBL logo us larger.

As for the Jeff Rowland Criterion pre and 300 series power amps, they are the center room. Home Theatre is still what it is, except he is now having 5 pieces of Jeff's Class D M201 (200 watter per channel 8 Ohm) powering the system. Cheers!
