Delivered today, impressively built. Very heavy. Measured 59cm high, 65 cm wide, 38cm deep. Large, but when sit besides Q7, it doesn t look that large at all. Pictures here for those who may want exact dimensions that is hard to find. The worst , and it is really ugly is that the stand bottom has plenty of unused holes and threads. They use S5 or even SCC by-products to make stand for sure. Also no instruction of any kind as usual. Toga.

Sound impression, At 0 hour. Driven by Proceed HPA3 and 7 meters long of Kimber 8TC. Well, speaker itself is suppose to sound less impressive than Q3 and Q3 less so than Q7. So me comparing Q7 driven by first rate amp and cable to SCC driven by ordinary cable and amp can feel a bit Underwhelm. Soon I will have to find 25 ft Transparent Reference speaker cable. May be in 2015. But let wait till after 100 hours, now playing music with AVP set to mono. There is vibration at the base, before installation I should damp it from bottom with some damping adhesive, the same type that we put inside car door structure . Toga

Now it is in final position.
A world better than previous Definitive Technology 's $1000 C/L/R3000 in clarity in the mid and high. But SCC doesn't seem to have any bass. In it s first 30 hours. I will have to burn it more. Toga |

I don't have problem with bass level with mine. When running automatic calibration on my Denon AVP A1HD, it confirms my setting as "large" speaker in THX, whereas on my Usher center speaker it was sending to the sub frequencies below 40Hz.
Like any center speaker, don't expect it to go down to 25Hz: this is just physics, set by volume of the cabinet. |

Jazzman, I lived with the DefTech 3000 for too long, that one give real bass, didnt know how deep, but that was real bass.. I am just curious why Q1 and S1 make punchier bass out of similar size woofers and cabinet. Toga

Thanks Jazzman,
Today, I get a punchier bass now. I have run Ayre burn in track for 3 nights already, No placement issue because it is exactly same spot where last speaker was. Now the midbass is pretty punchy, I found the pitch angle to be very important, it is lower than Ear level I have to tilt it up aiming its axis to me ear. Do you put it on floor ? You should aim it up too. Vetical beam is quite limited. Toga |

Thanks for the update Toga. I am sure prospective buyers will appreciate your feedback & helpful measurements That bottom plate reminds me of a famous Bushranger Ned Kelly's armor!

Dave,
See picture in " stand for Magico SCC" post. Thats what I think my SCC look like.. Yes I post as much details as Ic an because this will be useful for someone else, as there is nothing useful In Magico web site, even dimensions in press release was incorrect, lucky I waited till I get it before buying stand. Also vertical dispersion is narrowed, sound output dropped fast when our ear get higher above tweeter height. Those who put it on ground will have 12" height difference between tweeter and ears level. Tilting up is a must. Toga |

Toga,
Maybe not the best place to post this but I could not send you a PM. Anyway here is a fraudulent listing on audiogon using pictures of your room. Thought you might like to see it... Last edited by Masterlu; 10-29-2013 at 08:23 PM. Reason: A-gon & eBay links are not permitted. |
