Default Very late the the Sting party

I don't know why my head has been buried in the sand when it comes to Sting. Sure I was aware but not a huge fan of his early work with The Police and solo career. Something had me try his latest album "My Songs" where I found reworked versions of several of his tracks. That led me to try a couple of others including "Live in Berlin" which is really well recorded. I had no idea he walks the line so well between pop/rock and almost jazz. Much more talented than I would have guessed.

It's nice to be reintroduced to an artist that i had relegated to the "I'll Pass" box.

Interesting - I liked some of his early work but stopped paying attention years ago. I’ll have to give some of his recent stuff a try. Thanks Jim.

I'm in the same camp, I quite liked the early solo work, not so much the
last two or three albums which includes the Symphonicities. I did go to the
Gabriel/Sting concert just because, but it was mostly classic tunes. I may
revisit his last album which I haven't listened to it that much.

That's interesting that you are just now getting into his music. If you explore further, you will hear more that will have you thinking he is more than just a pop icon, he is a true musician. "Live in Berlin" is indeed one of his best. I especially like "Brand New Day" and Police's "Ghost In the Machine" (the band's collective favorite among their albums).

Saw Gabriel/Sting as well. Awesome concert. For those who didn't attend, Sting sang Gabriel's songs and vice versa.

Also give Ten Summoner's Tales a listen if you get a chance. Sting said of Eva Cassidy, "Eva sings Fields of Gold like the rest of us wish we could." IMO his version on that album is quite good, as are several other cuts.

There are so many fine versions o Fields of Gold including Eva's. I do really enjoy Sting's version on "My Songs".
