Ended up ordering one today. Nobody at the store tried using it with the USB port so they also couldn't tell me if I'll have any issues using it with a PC. Let's just hope I won't...
They were quite surprised by my question. You should have seen the look on their face. Why would you use a computer for playing music???

Have C47 connected to MC462 and use:

MacBook PRO, Audioquest USB no issues sounds fantastic.

Also have tried bypassing to see if any differences. Have connected MacBook PRO to SMSL M8 DSD not using Foobar and then signal sent to C47, experience a smoother presentation when DSD filter is set to slow. Have not experimented with fast or medium options.

I have had problems sending music directly from my PC since installing Windows 10.

In my case I am attempting to send music to my Cambridge Audio Azure 851n (preamp/network player) rather than a Mcintosh product, but the concept is the same.

It appears that I am lacking the correct driver to let the PC recognize the network player as a "speaker."

I have spent a number of hours researching this issue and have had no luck in finding any solution. Using earlier versions of Windows operating system, I had no problems sending music directly from the PC using the USB connection.

I am not familiar enough with the Mcintosh C47 to know if there are any associated drivers that would solve this problem, but if you intend to use a PC (as opposed to an Apple computer) as your source computer, you may wish to do additional research on this issue before making a purchase.

Yes, McIntosh has a driver (ASIO driver) for C47 but I won't be able to check it until I get the unit unfortunately...
That's why I was asking here in case some other users have had this experience using C47 with a PC.

Took the advice of my dealer, if it works, no need to download update. C47 still using Original Software, think version 1.00 or 1.01.

I have a c47 connected to a Windows 10 laptop via USB, using Foobar2000. Once the McIntosh ASIO driver is installed, it works well, except for DSD. Never got DSD to work (natively) with Foobar2000. When I contacted McIntosh they said it's been tested with JRiver, so I downloaded the trial version of JRiver and can confirm DSD works (natively). Since I don't care about DSD, I'm still using Foobar2000. I can play DSD if I set the SACD setting in Foobar2000 to wrap the DSD in a PCM 352.8 kHz container. Otherwise, for PCM, any bit depth and any sample rate (up to 352.8 kHz) is transferred and decoded by c47 DAC bit perfect.

Also, the current firmware for c47 is 1.04. McIntosh doesn't advertise updates. If you wish to "skip" inputs in the c47 settings menu and are having trouble (inputs being mis-assigned), you should contact McIntosh for version 1.04 and instructions on how to install via USB.

I tried Foobar2000 and it also worked with my Windows 10 PC and Cambridge Audio Azure 851n.

Thanks desan705!

I love my C47, as much as sometimes I think I should switch to a tube pre, unless the difference is very noticeable I’ll keep this one. There’s a very informative Utube video on the build specs. Hope you like as much as I do.

I'm still waiting for my C47. It's been almost 2 weeks since the dealer placed the order with McIntosh but they haven't heard anything from the manufacturer yet.
Is it normal to take that long for them to ship a new item?
