LED kits should be drop in replacement without any further mods.

I did my MC2255 this winter. There were several bulbs (9 or 10 if memory is correct) that needed to be soldered in. There's also a fair amount of disassembly required. But the end result is was well worth the effort as the new leds really made the old amp look like new.

All MC2105 lamps are bayonet type which are easily replaced. No soldering necessary.

Why not just talk with your Mc dealer and order a set of LED bulbs from them.

This MC2505 (same amp for illustrative purposes here) appears to have the
captainfantastic LED package. Unfortunately I was unable to find an
image showing the final result with the faceplate installed.

The Captain's kit with bright GREEN LEDs used for
the panel should help on older units where the original green filters have
faded over time. This should be advantageous in helping to match
the MC2105 illumination with newer McIntosh equipment per the
OP's desire to do so.

CF also offers an alternative kit but with all soft white LEDs but
those probably won't provide the same results as the kit with the
green lamps.

Only $30 to find out.

Not sure he offers LED packages for older non LED units. As for the incandescents, it is a pain in the butt to take these unit and replace bulbs every 3-5 years. I have owner 3-5 Mc Units for 49 years now. A nice LED package that lasts 10+ years would be Valhalla for me for sure.

There are other sellers besides Capt. Fanstastic with led kits. I thought you may have had a problem with him as he doesn't seem to have anything listed presently. The kit that I used for my 2255 from the seller I mentioned contained the correct 21 bulbs with the gel and it went together without a hitch. A couple weeks ago I bought a kit from the same seller for my MQ101 and that went super easy with only 4 bulbs.

Good luck in your quest as it's well worth the effort on these old Macs to do these simple led upgrades
