Don’t let it scare you. Trust your ears. If you are happy with the sound don’t let a negative comment or review change your initial perception of its sound.

Having said that I have decided to keep my 1.2's driving my Alexx. I recently upgraded my speaker cables to solid silver. Silver dramatically reduces grain and increases clarity. The 1.2's have a very sweet and smooth midrange and treble. I'm not ever going to move away from Mac amps so my 1.2's are keepers. 3 things: I understand the 1.25's are selling very well. The lifespan for 1.2's is about 60 years. The 1.25's run hotter than the 1.2's, no question about this so they are a very different design.

That’s very interesting that they run hotter. I can’t wait to get my system up and running so I can hear them myself. When you say you upgraded to solid silver, what brand are you using? Or are you making the cables yourself? Thank you.

I'm using Audioquest Wel Signature speaker cables which are solid silver. Also, Wel Signature IC's (24' balanced) also solid silver. With exception of my AQ Coffee USB cable which does have some copper in it, I no longer have copper in my system. I really do believe you will be extremely happy with your new 611's. If given the choice between new 1.2's and new 1.25's no question I'd go for the 1.25's. Again, I understand they are selling extremely well and I think they are very beautiful.

Also I don't think the slight increase in heat significant. I look forward to hearing about your listening impressions after you listen to the 611's. In my opinion the amount of technology and sophistication your are getting for the price you are paying is truly incredible. Not that Mac is cheap but considering the high price of many competing amps that run hot and thus will not last nearly as long: what a bargain the 611 truly is!

My 1.2kw's don't run even remotely hot, so amps that run "hotter" would not be difficult to envision. I do not think I would make anything of that.
