I have all the specs and was set to get one as a tester, but I decided no to since to really take advantage of the unit you need a PS Audio Dac, and well then defeats the entire purpose on my 500t preamp, so I would have to tie into the MX150 and decided the only way after learning about it to get a trues 5.1 DSD layer from SACDs requires at least 3 PS Audio Dacs on a proprietary system.

I lot of gear and a lot of cost, that said i am sure it is a nice player and has a market but I see it is not easy to setup with my current gear.

I would get the DS Jr if I wanted to add more channels to augment my DS

But this is no different from an Esoteric or dCS SACD transport - they need to be matched to their specific DACs for the copy protection to work.

Looking forward to read the first reviews!
At 6K, it is not as expensive as its competition, and the company has a long standing, good reputation.

I was all set to get one and the DirectStream DAC as well, but I have suffered the loss of an income stream, so the purchase is on hold... May try and get a home trial. If it proves to be as good as Paul McGowan says, I may find the money somehow!

I am very pleased with the DMP. The pairing with the DS DAC is formidable. Some of my 30+ year old SACD's have never sounded so complete.

Longbowbbs. How is that pre? What did you have before it and what amp do you have mated with it? Thanks Tim

So pleased to hear this, longbowbbs. Looks like it will tip the balance into me buying both... what else of yours can I buy? ;-))

If anybody's interested in getting a great deal on a DirectStream DAC, please check out my post in the marketplace.
