I should point out the listening room itself was far from perfect and IME generally the Salon's are not a boomy speaker by any means. That said, some amps definitely give you a more dynamic and better defined bass than others. For example, a pair of Levinson 53's were excellent in that regard, even though they were less than stellar at higher frequencies. |

McIntosh stereo MC450 for the towers and a McIntosh MC303 for the center and surrounds - Give in to the dark side and cash in your 401K ..... then enjoy yourself

I'm driving my Salon2's with a Hegel H360. 425 watt's into 4 ohms and they rock. My demo was with a pair of 350 wpc Mark Levinson's and those pumped more Bass into the room, smaller room tho?

Steve, there’s not a lot of activity on this forum for Revel or Mark Levinson, but I have both in my system so I’ll join in: they are incredible together! I’ve had both B&W 800D2 and Revel Salon2 speakers driven by my ML electronics. Both combinations sound exquisite!

I have auditioned Salon2’s with the following: McIntosh 452, ATI Signature 6007, Mark Levinson No. 536’s. The verdict, in order of best sound (to me):
1. Mark Levinson No. 536 - best of the three by far. A class above, and then some. 2. ATI Signature 6007 - excellent sound quality and 7 channels at an astounding price for what you get. 3. McIntosh 452 - very nice, but not better than the ATI and not as good a value. But great MC look! Love those meters! And resale value up the wazoo! Last edited by Karl Maga; 03-15-2018 at 07:09 AM. |

I think the ML gear even used would have me working 5 years into retirement, but there's no denying how great the combination sounds.

Steve, ATI Signature 6000 amps are very affordable, yet more than capable of driving Salon2’s. For 2 months I drove my Salon2’s with my ATI Signature 6007 and was very happy with it. I auditioned MC 601’s in comparison to my ATI when I still had B&W 800D2’s and decided that for me, the ATI sounded just as good. So, that is one very strong recommendation based on first hand experience. Very affordable, yet very strong and clean.

Regarding the Hegel....sounds like it has great synergy with Revel. The H30 is supposed to be a superb match with Salon2's. Last edited by tdimler; 03-18-2018 at 09:17 PM. |

I had the f52's and salon1's at the same time and at moderate levels it would have been difficult to tell them apart, f52 ultra tight bass to salon FULL bass, both recessed mids and smooth treble. The Hegel made a pronounced difference in the midrange without penalty anywhere else. ffw, F52 sold, salon1 for sale, old amp sold, Salon2 and H360 seem to scratch the itch. The gentleman I bought my Salon2's from was using the ML 536 and they're without a doubt amazing. I would expect a move to ATI from hegel to be lateral so for now i'll chill, but anybody on a budget with Revels can add Hegel to their short list.
