M-L had "balanced force" subs BEFORE they had balanced force subs. The Statement E2 had that technology in 1998.

Just heard the Neolith at HighEnd Munich.
Nice, reminds me to the ReQuest in size but with more power and faster response. Last edited by audiokarl; 05-15-2014 at 11:47 AM. |

Neolith is reported to be lower than $100,000 !!!
A fully passive designed. But they use Shunyata PC to energize the ESL panel. Is there any advantage using expensive PC to energize the panel ? Toga |

Can't say that I found any after market PC to improve the sound of my Summit-Xs. (Or any of the MLs that I've owned.) Not only that, found they often degraded the sound of the speakers -and I've always been puzzles as to why.

I was a Martin Logan dealer for many years and have personally owned almost every speaker ML has ever made. I found a "slight" improvement with aftermarket power cords. It sure wasn't a significant upgrade, but was noticeable. I never tried anything over a $200 retail price. I even found that a regular heavier gauge power cord, (like from Digikey, 12 gauge or 10 gauge) better than the stock cords.
I am currently running Tributaries PC-9 power cords on my CLSIIA's because I got them at closeout for about 80% off. I recommend not spending a lot, but it can make a difference to a point. |

my dealer has just come back from Munich, I will ask him his impression about Neolith. And thanks for sharing about Power cords. I would love to have Neolith, but sadly no more space for them. I have only one listening room which is already occupied by other speakers. Toga.

I was a proud owner of a pair of Ascent i's that I purchased new, and just recently sold. They were marvelous speakers that I drove with different amps from a pair of old Golden Tube Audio SE-40SE mono blocks to a Pass Labs X-250. They always sounded great. I also experimented with a few different pc's, and I thought the one that sounded best was an inexpensive cord from Frank at Signal Cable.
