NOLG4EVR good luck for the repair and I hope for you that it will not be long!

Yikes, mine gave only been switched on once...now I am nervous. I am sure yours will be returned quickly and perfectly. It is amazing these electronics get shipped across the world with only a few failures.

(Added: I was of course merely joking above but for anyone worried, it survived its second turn on! . As it will many more.

Both my dealer and Jonathan have been very apologetic and feel it is most likely a tube failure. I was quite surprised as to the quality of the packaging. Not very secure in my opinion. I agree, it is amazing more of these don't get damaged during shipping.

Its headed back to the dealer for biasing and tube replacement. The packaging is actually quite good, its not mass production "clamshell" style which as end users you pay a surprisingly high amount for. Shindo doesn't believe in spending the customers money on fancy looking boxes. We have had next to zero shipping damage in the past 10.5 years. They're double boxed with high densitiy foam between each box and around the amplifier. The amps were also tested once they arrived at the dealer before making the long drive to your place. As murphys law would have it, the tube didn't show its issue until after Eric left for his long journey home. The best laid plans…

Tube amps are better than SS amps, especially when they are made by Shindo.
But there is a price to pay for this musicality.
A tube can die anytime. Like us indeed.
While most SS amps will survive to us .
The bad guys always live longer.

Quite true. In some brands of amps more than others. Most tube amps, especially higher powered ones, eat tubes often. In this case, it appears to be either shipping damage to the tube or simply a defective tube. All the packing in the world can not stop the shock of a box being dropped hard. Ever do that experiement with an egg dropped from a window... No matter how you pack or pad the egg, it still breaks. Inertia.

Now when a SS amp fails… speakers can be destroyed and no quick tube swap will get you back up and running. Only major surgery, by an experienced tech.

I wish I could go home to turn it on.

Obama decided to have dinner a few houses down on my block and it is all shut down. Swept for bombs earlier.

Went to my club and now this block is closed as he is visiting a school on the next block. Hundreds of police. Snipers that I can see on the roof.

Certainly no repeat of JFK 50 years ago, thankfully.
