Brian.......Very interesting review of what certainly is a wonderful power amplifier. That it is also a serious room heater is a bit discouaging for those of us who spend most of the year cooling our homes rather than heating them.

Car commander.......When I made that comment 26 months ago I overlooked the fact the Pass X350.5 is a Class AB amplifier, not a Class A. I am sure the X350.5 operates as cool as nearly all other 350 watt Class AB amplifiers. My mistake.

Dan,

The X350.5 consumes 600 watts idle and the first 40 watts are class A. I actually appreciate my XA100.5's for their sound and heat. They consume 600 watts total and since my room is cool this time of year, they are perfect to keep me very comfortable. Something bigger is certainly doable for me in the fall/winter. Summer would be a little tougher.

I have the X350.5 and the XP-20 pre at home.

Really enjoying the combo. I am pretty sure the x350.5 puts out more heat than my cj prem8a's with a total of 16 x 6550's

Cheers

I can back this up by saying that my X260.5 mono blocks put out more heat than my previous Gryphon M100 monoblocks, but they also sound better-worth considering and good value.

I have X600.5's. I think the heat issue is blown out of proportion. They run warm, but not "hot".

Does the X350.5 put out a lot of heat? Would it be feasible to use it in a combined 2 channel and HT setup where it would be used pretty much every time the tv was turned on and would therefore be on quite a bit?

The room is an open floor plan with high ceilings and floor to ceiling windows. The room already gets slightly warm on sunny days.

I have a pair of X600.5's. I don't notice the heat at all. They are warm to the touch, but that's about it. I don't think you will have any problem. Buy one. You'll love it..
