Congrats, the HD280's are a great pair of headphones for the money.

Mike.......I was surprised to see the Sennheiser HD280 Pro unboxing, only because you have purchased much more expensive headphones.

I have six pairs of the Sennheiser HD280 Pros headphones, all in black. I use them in the recording studio and control room. I feed playback through a six channel headphone amplifier to balanced 1/4" TRS jacks in the walls around the studio. Their isolation is excellent, and can be used by a vocalist with an open microphone with zero feedback issues during recording and sync tracking. I also use a pair at the digital workstation in the control room, and I keep a pair plugged into my Roland Fantom X6 keyboards to wear during practice.

I like the Sennheiser HD280 Pro a lot. The are rugged, so they stand up to being used and abused by those who are not as careful as I am with equipment, they isolate outside sound well, and the sound very good. My HD280 Pro headphones have been in use for over four years without a failure, or any part of them breaking or becoming worn. These are good headphones that stand up under use.

I bought them because I heard a pair at MacWorld last year and liked it. I understand that the silver is new to the model, but I like black better. I plan to compare it to the legendary Sony MDR-V6 to see which is king. Should be fun.

Hey dan your home studio is impressive mines only growing i wanted to ask about ur hd280s would you say there better than the hd380s for guitar? i have the 380s atm but im not loving them for guitar atm
