SATA drive for the MS300/750
Has anyone found an adapter that work to convert IDE to SATA drive? So far, I tried the StarTech IDE2SAT and assortment of some from China and the system does nothing during the 'Golden CD' boot.

I think Chacagodog said he had bought a refirb IDE drive that worked. You have to have some luck of course. I just ordered a new 320 gb (Seagate ST3320820ACE) for my MS300, new for about $160 plus shipping. I think the 750's are getting harder to find, though.

yes, new IDE are hard to find and how can you be sure it is new either. SATA 750GB new are available, so I thought finding an adapter that works would be better. Not having a working computer that uses IDE makes it harder to test these adapter. Do they really work? if it works with the computer, than it is the MS300/750 logic board unable to use the adapter.
I tested the 750GB SATA drive with the computer and it works.. they are new anyway and should be.

I also tried the StarTech IDE2SAT adaptor...it worked in my computer but not in my MS300.
Btw, I’ve got a used Seagate ST3320820SCE. If interested, send me a PM. |
