Tube lust...it's a disease. Try a pair.

Edit: I just checked the datasheet and it boasts the exact same max plate current in Triode (250 Volts) of the 6L6 GC (44 mA), so in my book it should not make much of a difference in my rig ... But, what do I know, right?
It's in the 6L6 family but it certainly will sound different than the 63PS-E.

In my Inspire amp I've been using for a a few days a Bendix NOS 6106 rectifier with Pope 6V6GT's and Psvane CV181-TII output buffer. Comparing it to an RCA 5U4G that I use frequently, it sounds a little more detailed and crisper, soundstage about the same which is great. It might be a little leaner sounding but still wonderful. Another fine option to rotate in and out of the mix.

Does your amp have the IIPS mod? The mod makes the choice of rectifier tube less important.

I thought the IIPS mod was default in all PSE designs from Dennis, from the time of this procedure's release. I understand your amp is quite recent, isn't it? Maybe I'm wrong.

I bought mine in July 2016. I think the IIPS came out after that, but I could be wrong.

That is my recollection as well. Dennis' genius came up with the IIPS in late August /early September. A couple PSEs made it out the door before then.

A few pix from Thursday's listening session....

Tony's new amp, built from an old organ amp chassis. SEP running new production 6CA7s.

My PSE 45 amp...

Dennis' new prototype amp, built from another organ chassis, running KT-77s wired in strapped SET

As you can see the voltage regulator tubes are the new "hot bling thing"....

Now, that must be the Bee's Knees: Triode-strapped KT-77 PSE with IIPS and tube voltage regulation ... Best of the best in my book! As I posted a while ago, I was wondering about something like this ... It happened Just add in a pair of High Pass Filters for the really low frequencies, one or two good SUBs, and a decent pair of high-sensitive speakers, and this rig will shine without reasonable competition. Much more affordable to maintain than the gorgeous PSE 45 SET.

Did you guys listened to it Thursday? Any particular observations?
