Yep, we are back to smaller floor speakers. Kind of a sad day, I sold my Yvette’s and my last amp today. I also didn’t have a chance to call the dealer to see if they have the maxima. Good news is I have a little time to decide, while I wait for the 12000.

I’ve made the journey from Wilson to the ‘modern’ SF sound and the two are very very different.

I think if you like the Wilson sound you should stick with it.

It will be really interesting to get your take on the two after you’ve listened to the SF speakers.

I do like the Wilson sound, they are always one of my favorites at the shows. Which is why I bought the Yvette's. That said, I'm intrigued by the new SF. The only way to find out is to go listen!

I went to the dealer today and listened to the Guarneri Traditions and SabrinaX in the same room, on the same gear. Unfortunately, they aren't expecting the Maxima Amator's until February. The Guarneri's were first up. They were excellent, presented a very nice center image and wide soundstage. They were very forgiving and definitely on the warm side. Next up was the SabrinaX. I was floored; they were fantastic, as good if not better than my Yvette's. The clarity, soundstage, and bass extension were exceptional. I wanted to like the Sonus Faber, but they were too warm for my taste. The Maxima Amator's are supposed to be even warmer than the Guarneri's. This means, no need to wait; I'll be ordering the SabrinaX.

Just as I suspected the outcome would be. If you have lived with Wilson speakers and enjoyed them, it will be difficult to go with anything else. Very few speakers out there combine all of the traits of the modern Wilson in one box.

That's why they make so many different speakers and there is a pair out there for just about every taste.

Congrats on your choice and enjoy when they come in

Thank you! I went in with a very open mind and wanted to love the SF's.

I understand. I have had the pleasure of a few SF speakers as well as a few Wilson speakers in my systems. Both have very strong qualities.

Enjoy them! How long did they tell you to expect to wait, I'm curious?

They believe about a month, although with the holidays it could be a little longer. I expect to know more next week.

You made a great choice. I think the Sabrina’s are an awesome option when space is at a premium.

And as you’ve found the sonic differences between the Wilson and SF speakers are not subtle!
