Will there be any benefits of sound quality if using the BDP-2 instead of going directly to my BDA-3 as an endpoint in Roon? Beside the possibility to use the DSP functions.

Hi

They only difference would be if you go direct to the BDA3 the software controlling the music playback would be ROON's whereas if you go through the BDP to the BDA3 the software controlling the music would be MPD.

I made a mistake. I am speaking of PNY not PNC flashdrives.

I have now installed Roon via the Bryston 60 days trial, thank you for that.
I have Roon on my mac mini and it's connected to the same router as my Synology NAS and my BDP-2. Everything wired to the Netgear router with Audioqest ethernet cables.

I can now choose which endpoint i want to use, my BDP-2 or my BDA-3. The BDP-2 and the BDA-3 are connected with both coax and USB. But when I choose the BDP-2 as an endpoint to Roon the USB to BDA-3 doesen't work, only coax connection. Do you know why? When I don't use Roon and use MPD in BDP-2 instead the USB works well.

Make sure the BDP is in Roon Ready mode under services in MM interface

Make sure in ROON you have selected the BDP.

Not sure you can go back and forth like that as you are choosing a different signal path and output from the computer.

Hi again,

Yes, BDP in Roon ready service and BDP-2 is chosen as endpiont in Roon.
When in this set-up the USB connection between BDP-2 and BDA-3 will not work. Only the digital coax, SPDIF ( and probably also the AES/EBU if I had any) connection from BDP-2 and BDA-3.

I am not switching the signal path from the computer. It was only for information that it's possible to run Roon with BDA-3 as an endpoint if you want.
I am only switching the signal path between the BDP-2 and BDA-3. USB or SPDIF and then USB will not work, only SPDIF.

It works OK for me here but when I switch to USB I have to restart the track.

Ok, strange. That didn't help for me. Doesn't even help if I restart computer & BDP-2 and start with USB. Only silence so I have to switch to SPDIF.

James

I have exact same set up issue. Does it have anything to do with Roon converting DSD to PCM.?

Thanks

Neil
