Mike.......Never saw one of those before.

I had my old record player at the foot of my bed. I used to lay with my head right in front of the speaker and listen. I didn't realize it at the time but I was a budding audiophile even back then.

My brother had one of those.

Thanks for the trip down memory lane.

I've not always found "live music" to be all that it can be, so in that respect, I'd rather listen to my stereo. If I spend all that money for tickets and the sound guy isn't doing his job or the person next to me keeps yelling at the band to play her favorite song, or any number of reasons to ruin my enjoyment. I'll take sitting at home with my favorite wine and the bathroom next door. Of course I'm not 25 anymore either. That has a lot to do with it. The simple pleasures.

You are right, not always. Certainly would not want to listen to ear splitting concerts like I did in the 80's, so when I get nostalgic for some rock or even some heavy metal from the days of my youth, the volume control, a comfortable couch and not having to be with thousands of others is hard to beat.

Exactly. My wife always says I'm a "creature comfort" guy.

I think High-End listening is an addiction. I just love settling down into the sweet spot and becoming immersed in the music, revelling in the stage depth & width is the best virtually reality I know. The expenditure then is definitely worth every cent/penny. Of course it exists!
