Default Weird experience

Playing around with Tidal this morning and listening to the Nils Lofgren Live album that other members posted about. That led me to listen to the band Grin, Nils' first band.

On the album, The very best of Grin featuring Nils Lofgren, I had the disturbing experience happen to me. When the second song came on, See What Love Can Do, my vision narrowed and I started to feel sick to my stomach.

The song has a soundstage that almost wraps around you. That sensation made me sick. I tried hard to listen through the song but couldn't do it. I think the engineer played with the phasing or something else of the drums/bass guitar to create that 'space'. When I set my PreAmp to mono, the stage collapsed and I immediately felt better but the drums become non-existent!

Very weird sensation and a first for me...

Go ahead, try it fellas and let me know if you have the same sick feeling.

By the way, I like the music of GRIN. Dated but enjoyable.

This is like when you're a kid: "This tastes like (explictative). Here, try it".

Narrow vision, sick to stomach. I'll probably pass. But, good to know.

I just played the track and though I didn't suffer from any physical issues I do agree that it is one of the oddest recordings I can remember. That might be the widest and most enveloping soundstage I have heard in some time. It goes wide and seems to wrap around my head. It is odd that the lead v
ocals are centered along with a guitar but everything else sounds outside the speakers.

I'll pass. Would love to validate what's happening for you there Craig, but it just doesn't sound very inviting . . .

Jim, When I set the PreAmp to mono, the drums pretty much disappeared from the sound. That tells me they did something with the phasing of the drums. Craig
