Default Custom Bi-Amp speaker cables :)

I needed to make a set of bi-amp cables to connect my speakers to my amplifiers. Well, I would say for about a total cost of $100 and a couple hours time, they turned out pretty nice. I won't make claims like they are the best cables in the world, but they do look pretty sexy and sound good to me.

Hello. Those cables look great to me. I've enjoyed reading your posts on this site. Would you mind describing the breakdown of your construction of the cables?

Thanks!! I enjoy making these things. I have made all my own power cables too. Just bought the ends from ebay (China) and the cable from Home Depot.

The wire I used is noting special just 10/4 (maybe 8/4 can't remember) SOOW 600V by the foot from Home Depot.
The spade and banana connectors are from Amazon (Nakamichi).
The heat shrink is from Fry's Electronics.
The Techflex is from ebay

They are pretty easy to make, it takes a lot of time and patience. I can see why cables cost a lot of money. If you were to use a higher quality cable & connectors, plus the labor to put it all together, you would have to mark it up a lot to make a profit.

My next adventure is going to be interconnects, but I haven't started looking at the parts yet

Rob, DIY projects can always be enjoyable and rewarding. I know some folks who like to braid CAT5 cable for speaker wire and get good results with a significant savings at the cash register. Your cables look great. Have you considered laying them on cable elevators in your setup? Look forward to seeing your next DIY project.

Regards

Thank you!!! I tired the CAT5 thing before too, but it is a lot of work. I work in IT and we have boxes of CAT5 cable laying around, so I was bored one day and gave it a try.

Funny thing is, I already made some cable elevators. They are pretty cheap, but do the job. I will try to dig them out and take a couple pics. I might have to make a version 2.0 of them.
