Default Broadchurch

We just finished watching Season 1 of the UK series Broadchurch that is shown here on Netflix. This is a excellent drama that covers both the investigation of the murder of a 11 year old boy and how that investigation impacts this small English town. Highly recommended and the first episode of Season 2 throws in a couple of twists.

The dialogue in Broadchurch was often difficult for this GOSB (good old southern boy) to understand and it "inspired" me to start using the English closed captioning sub-titles while I watched the show..

Now, I use CC for almost all the British shows that I watch. Surely makes it easier to understand the various dialects.

As an aside, I love the British mystery (and most other British) series and I recently subscribed to the channel ACORN on my various ROKU boxes, where you can find most all of them in one place. You can subscribe directly to Acorn or you can get it through the Amazon channel (same price either way - I think $4.95/mo) and it is marvelous.

And, English sub-titles are available on most all of the British series.

Julian is correct. We often catch ourselves asking "what did they say".

We have really enjoyed Broadchurch, Happy Valley and The Fall. As others have mentioned the accents can be challenging, for us Broadchurch was more so. I drive my wife crazy by insisting on not using CC.

If you haven't seen it Luther is another fine series. We also liked River and Paranoid. We are currently into Longmire, takes place in a fictional Wyoming town.

Ditto on Broadchurch & The Fall. So nice to watch without commercials and only for one hour. Otherwise cuts into "stereo time" hah!
