Wow. That is a way to operate. Even upgradeable from non SE version.

I have to say this sounds like a worthy upgrade and something I will consider for my home theater as I intend to use the analog out to my MX120. This appears to be the same upgrade that Nuforce is selling as well.

Here's the link on Oppo's website for the upgrade option: OPPO BDP-83 Special Edition Blu-ray Disc Player

Only thing that will be different from a new BDP-83SE is that the faceplate will not be changed so you will not have the SE moniker (although they will supply a sticker decal for those who must have the SE label on their faceplate )

Looks like upgrade is $299 (which brings total cost to $799) vs. a brand new BDP-83SE at $899. Not bad

Or if you have a few more dollars burning a hole in your pockets, this may just be the ticket.

It's almost like the old Sears and Robuck commercials......Good, Better, Best.

Default Difference Between the Ayre and the Oppo it is based upon.

To the left is a picture of the Oppo BDP-83's innards.

And then to the right is a picture of the Ayre's insides.

Any difference? Yes, I think so.
