I never looked at them this way either David, until very recently, looking at the annual increase of prices on the Rolex used market....
I buy it to wear it and because I like it.

The used market, at least here in the US, has been very consistent for the past decade with little price fluctuation. In fact, given the state of the economy I've seen lower prices in the past five years as those selling them are strapped for cash. The only people making any real money on used Rolex's are the dealers/brick & mortar's that take them in trade (for a low price) then mark them way up. You as a private seller would not likely do as well. Me, I might do better because I'm well established in collecting circles.

Jerome,
Congrats on the new watch ! I have recently 'invested' into a Swatch New Gent Blue watch - I wonder how it will hold the value it 10 years |

Adam: there is a much more serious thread on PAB feet under my WP8's that I just started in the isolation forum. You may have more serious things to say there ! Did you try those feet under your Sashas ?

Jerome the sport rolex watches tend to hold value better. If you buy what you like to wear you can expect after about 5 years to not get hurt when you resell. It's also important to have the box and papers to get top dollar.

Finally, while the " Pepsi" had no more lightning on the indexes and hands. Black crown looks more serious and less fun but it can be changed by Rolex for a very small amount of 70 euros.
Note the GMT hand is set on US eastern time ! ( Ivan's AA time ! ). Better deal finally : same price but the watchis from 1999 and has been fully serviced by Rolex in 2012. Will wear it only on Chabbats ( so no risk to damage it ) or special occasions and will get back here in 5 to 7 years to tell you the price on the used market ! image-3851480442.jpg

Very nice Jerome. Wear the watch every day, your not going to hurt it , just enjoy it The little marks on the shiny parts come out with a cape cod cloth and the brush finish can be touched up with a green scotch pad or a fiberglass brush. It's a rugged tool watch.

I did not know that but when I see how easily my Oyster Date gets scratched, I can believe that polishing is easy. This SS must be a bit " tender".

I wasn't thinking about the two Rolexes as investments when I bought them while working in the Middle East, but $600.00 for a GMT Master turned out to be a fantastic investment (I had both watches serviced by Rolex so I know they're not fake). But, it's only a good investment if you plan on selling which I'm not planning on doing. My other Rolex is the two tone Submariner with the blue face and bezel.
