Default 5.1.4 vs. 7.1.4

Is 7.1.4 a worthwhile upgrade from 5.1.4? This is doable in the room that I'm in and I do have both processing and amplification available for such.

I'd simply need to dedicate the better part of a day to running the wiring for the speakers . . .

It's a good question. You probably don't have a very big pool of people who have tried both. I am close to this point myself.

I will play around with deciding if 7.1 is worthwhile over 5.1; the other .4 is just a bonus.

I am curious about your results. I need to upgrade to 7.1. I have heard 7.1 on an all Focal and Classe system and it was impressive.
