A-70 run 4 speakers?
Have the A-70 running a pair of Franco Serblin Ktemas. I am looking for a set of monitors for another system. The thought crossed my mind to purchase a pair of FS Accordos for the secondary system. If in the future I choose to run the Accordos off the two extra terminals from the A-70, would it put to much strain on the Amp? I know the A-70 is equipped for bi-wiring, but have not heard if it can be utilized for another set of monitors. Thoughts?

Both the Ktemas and Accordos are 4 ohm speakers, so running both together would present a net 2 ohm load to the amp. The A70 is rated at 240 watts per channel into 2 ohms as well as having the ability to deliver 480 wpc into a 1 ohm impedance, so it shouldn't present any problem.

A70 will drive a 2 Ohm load no problem, maybe you might notice a difference in the control of the Ktemas as the damping factor halves

I have had a pair of Accordo with my A-70 ad they are very "hungry" speakers........ A one time the A-70 delivered 268w to the Accordo.

268 watts peak is surely hungry.. Observing the Vu meters those peaks mostly occur mid or mid-high frequency range.
To my impression there is only halving of dampingfactor when going bridged. Output A/B are the same, only interrupted by choice at the front. I find the A/B on-off a real world comfort when changing cables, and to avoid any noise beeing amplified at the front system when powered on. The nice thing with Accuphase is that all that comfort and features does not interfere with the music. LOVE the A47 |

I did not consider the volume output difference to the Ktemas versus the rear Accordos. The A-70 runs the Ktemas flawlessly without stress. I have no doubt the A-70 could do it, but I have chosen to not get the Accordos. I love Accordos, but I may be looking for variety in a different sound for the second system. Thank you everyone for your response.
