Widealab Aurender Music Servers
I'm looking into music servers and the Widealab Aurender seems ( on paper ) like the unit that is right for me. I would welcome any feedback or testimonials from AA members that already enjoy this unit.

Here's a review from the Computer Audiophile site of the S-10. It received their 2011 Product of the Year award: Computer Audiophile - Aurender S10 Music Server Review

Very nice digital server but I rather have a laptop for my music server as I have the freedom of what media player software I want to use. As of now I'm using JRMC 17 as it's a SOTA digital playback IMHO.

Adam,
What DAC do you recommend with the S-10? |

I'm asking since Aurender is comming with two new servers, which may better suit your needs than the excellent S10. They are supposed be launched at Munich show this weekend.
One will be an USB only music server. USB is a superior interface standard, and I would recommend using it over legacy SPDIF interface (be it AES or coax or TosLink) if only your DAC has an USB input. The other model, the W10, will come with clock input. It is aimed at dCS / Esoteric DAC owners, since those dacs have clock ins/outs and can be clock linked to a transport with a separate clocklink cable (or to an external clock if you happen to have one). From what I heard, they are trying to make the W10 to be able to control the dCS external clock via the RS-232 port (to toggle switch between 44.1 and 48 kHz), so that users do not need to change master clock frequency depending on the sampling rate of the file. They want to provide a special usb to RS232 cable for this purpose as an option for dCS users. I think the W10 may be my next music server as I'm using the dCS Scarlatti DAC.
