Is there a seprate component that just does room correction ?

something that would do Audessy or something similar if a person had a bryston SP3 or like av processor I guess the budget would be around 1k . 5-7 channels

Here's the problem. The only external Audyssey processor would insert additional A/D/A conversions since it is only analog in/out.

The two places you can put a stand-alone processor would be before or after the SP3. Put it before and you should be using a digital in/out and I would recommend the miniDSP nanoAVR DL which is HDMI in/out and uses DiracLive for EQ. Put it after and you would have to encumber the additional conversions.
