As an aside, and I am not trying to tempt DartZ owners back to the Burmester fold, if the 911 is a bit too aggressive in the mix, then the 956 can be an excellent fit. I use the 082 integrated, which has a similar sonic signature to the 956, with speakers I judge too aggressive on the 911. But I am, in general (my 300B SET system is an exception), a speaker-centric person. I'll try and work out what speaker might best suit the room and general positioning options, then find the amp to suit it, etc.

Hi Glisse,
Intereresting to read your views with a speakercentric perspective. My startingpoint is the MBL116f which I am trying to find a matching amp for. I started with a Devialet D-Premier (not enough muscle), a stereo 911Mk3 (better) and now an Adyton Cordis 1.8S (quite good, super-fast). I am considering two options now; a dual 911 or switching to a speaker that will play with a wider selection of amps. The coming holidays have audition of the Raidho 3.1, Kef Blade and Burmester B80/B100 in store. I use the B111 as source, and I am keen to see if the all-Burmester line-up will come up tops. |

When I compared in my system the 911 Mk3 with 956 Mk2, from the first seconds of music was very evident the superiority at all of 911's and quickly confirmed the purchase. The sound of 911's Mk3 is absolutely not aggressive. I'm totally agree with Mr. Harry Pearson of "The Absolute Sound" when He affirmed about the 911 MK3: "quite simply one of the best-sounding solid-state amps to thus far lighten our doorstep. It is an advance over the earlier Burmester electronics in that it is not only close to completely neutral but it shows no trace of the normally ubiquitous transistor texture and grain in the upper octaves. More interesting yet, to these ears, is how happy it is driving all sorts of speakers, from the ultra-revealing Kings to the sweetly euphonic Coltranes. An amp for all seasons, and virtually all setups". Last edited by Rocco; 12-11-2012 at 11:02 PM. |

Recently I hooked up my 911mk3's to my Dynaudio C1's and I have to say the combination is pretty fantastic. Yes, very different from the Dartzeel/TAD combo. There is no doubt the 911's have musical qualities no other amps have, but careful speaker matching is important.
Maybe a pair for Sonus Fabers might be fun addition to the 911's. Last edited by joeinid; 12-11-2012 at 11:00 PM. |

Can't say I've had a speaker in for review in the last four years that didn't work well with the 911... And for the period of time that I had a pair of them, it was pretty fantastic.
