Yes, I'm sure. I wonder why, though, none of them come with remote controls?

Vladmir is a purist and believes they add unwanted noise/distortion.

I guess I've gotta get comfortable getting up off the couch to adjust those knobs.

Having lived with no remote for so long and really hating it, I just refuse to live without one when I purchase my next pre.

So unless Vladmir comes out with something soon, my money is going for a ARC REF 5.

Hello darkstar,

I have no experience with the Mac & Lamm hybrid combo but have experienced the BAT + Lamm combo. This is a very good combo as well and the remote is present with the BAT pre-amp.
So good that I'm now looking into the BAT VK32 SE pre-amp to go with the Lamm M2.2. Please look into this= highly musical combo.
I have no experience with the AR Ref 5 + Lamm but have heard many times an all ARC combo even the anniversary models. Nice but not my cup of tea. YMMV.

Good luck.

Never missed the lack of remote with any preamp. Listening to vinyl? You're getting up anyways. Listening to CD? Get a CDP with variable volume control and have your remote. Preferably a tube CDP.

Both my tube CDPs have a remote, variable output as well as digital inputs for other sources, also variable volume control.

What makes you say that? Have you any experience with & without? I know it's a mixed bag - some prefer with & some without. WHat are your experiences?

I had a CDP from Classe, but ditched it for the DCS gear. It was so much more resolving & engaging. Would you ever consider going direct for your cds ?

The MAC/LAMM combo isn't by design, just temporary as a result of upgrading the amps before the pre.

Thanks for recommendation with BAT.

I am, obviously, a huge fan of my BAT VK-52 SE preamp.
