Always wanted the N801 back in the days. But the "washing machine" (*grin*) was way too big for my room and wallet.

They're still impressive, but nowadays they are too much sounded in comparison with newer designed speakers like the D2 and especially the D3-line.

I've had my N801's for about 4 years now and I am still as happy as a clam. Recently changed from McIntosh MC452 to EC AW600 NEMO monoblocks and while the MC452 was no slouch the NEMO's gave a little bit bit of extra oomph in the bass range. They surely are keepers!

Hi... just something to add to the B&W forum.
The N 801s are very nice sounding.
I like them a lot.
The floor is carpet over solid parquet wood over cement.
The amps are McIntosh 1.2 kw.
The pre is a tube McIntosh C2300.
One tuner is a McIntosh MR78.
The other tuner is a McIntosh MR71.
There is good FM here.
Also have a Klimax Linn Sondek LP12.
The LP12 is on Stillpoints.
All of the cabling is Shunyata.
I guess this is an old system, now?
Only the LP12 and the cabling are current.
I would like to get a good rack.
It took a long time for me to get this system to this point.

Hoping to look for a pair of the 801 Nautilus later in the year.

Any other users here partner them with Krell amplification?

Back in early 2000 I auditioned my 801s on Krell monos and I fell in love with them.
Even though mine are powered with a pair of Mac MC352s, Krell amps especially from the same vintage of the 801N are match made in haven.

For reference, I had a Krell KSA250, a real beast of an amp. I ran the Krell on my 802N. I demo'd the 14B SST at home on my 802N's and the 14B was a much better match. It had much more control over the Krell. I was hoping the Krell would sound better, but it didn't. I bought the 14B.
