The best AR15 out there is a shotgun according to Joe Biden. Sorry, I couldn't resist....

Some of the rimfire benchrest competitions are almost like that. Gun is mounted on rests (front & rear), sighted at the target at 50yd/100yd and then the only contact between the shooter and the gun when fired is when he/she touches the sub-1oz trigger to fire the round. Seems silly to me, but is a popular form of competition with plenty of betting is my understanding. I prefer the matches where the rifle must be fired from one's shoulder, regardless of the position.

We shoot a 50-animal rimfire silhouette (50/75/100/150/200m) match the first Saturday of the month starting next weekend (3/2) at the Quinton Sportsman Club (about 20mi west of Wilmington, DE in southern NJ). Chickens are offhand, but all the others are shot prone from sticks. Everyone is welcome and it is an "any rimfire (22LR) rifle/any sights" match. Come on out and shoot your Win Model 52 or Anschutz 64/54, etc. I generally shoot an 1885 Win Low Wall. Great array of rifles. Our top shooters are using CZ-453 varmit rifles. Several Ruger semi-autos, as well. Usually have 25+ shooters. Great fun.
