We may be facing a situation where a .22 AR15 will be the best as 5.56 ammo may be hard to come by. I got a S&W .22 AR15 just for those times when an itch sets in for plinking and target shooting yet shooting the 5.56 is no longer viable... I don't know what the future holds for these rifles anymore.

Yes, ammo is so scarce, and it will only get worse. The .22 AR will be the "safe" way to go to the range.
I have several thousand rounds of .223, but now don't want to shoot any of it as it is so hard to replace...

I think everyone will be in the same same boat if something happens to the supply of ammo. You simply can't have enough stockpiled to just plink and practice with it, it will be too valuable.

Another reason why I have an H&K carbine in a .45 ACP. If anything, the handgun rounds should be around. Of course the prices of ammo lately....
