The 101e's are a very unique speaker to drive, even among the MBL line...We have tried many different amps on them over the years and most have found bi-amping with the 1.2KW's work well, the 101's will sound very good with any quality high current amp... HOWEVER, we have found NOTHING that works as well with THIS model of MBL than MBL's own 9011, absolutely nothing. The 9011 was DESIGNED to drive the 101e and you will not find a better match for this speaker.

There is no doubt that both Xtremes and 101e's can sound amazing with 9011's . The best I have heard 101e's was driven by a pair of 9011's combined with a pair of 9008's. Even if cost was not an issue it is hard to fathom too many individuals placing four of these very large amps in their listening room.

I have not tried many amps but I am mesmerized by what I hear from tubes and the mbls.

From this thread I gather that I am still missing their potential, amazing! Wish I could audition some of those amps mentioned.

Browsed the MBL web site and could only find contacts in Russia and Dubai. Am I missing something?

From this thread I understand their speakers to be highly regarded. What about their electronics?

Thanks, Pedro

Here is the MBL link. Click on "Where to Buy"

MBL - Unique High End Audio

There electronics should be considered right along with any other top end gear you can name. In the end, it will be your preferences.

Pedro, it was an MBL show a couple of years ago that got me back into hifi. (It was with the MK I).
An incredible sound, musicians standing in the room. Detailed, natural, authority.
I haven't heard much better since...
I made me venture further into high end audio (all I knew was B&W, Marantz, Denon,... which were already very good, but MBL was in a totally different league).
