Joe...I asked my dealer and he has the M-600A not the M-800A which may not be enough for my Thiels but I may still borrow the M-600A and see how it works with my speakers.

Cyril,

I'd really like to read your take on it. I was very, very close to buying one M-800A before I bought my 911mk3.

Jim.......Have you seen the Luxman M-800A classified on Agon? He will sell a pair for under half price according to the ad.

Luxman came out with a replacement for the 590AII, the 590AX. It has ODNF3.0 instead of 2.2, among other changes. It is heavier by 1.7kg too.

I only spent a couple hours listening to the unit yesterday as I watched some college basketball in the afternoon and the Red Wings last evening. I might only get a couple of hours in today as Linda and I are going to the movies this afternoon.

I will keep you posted.

Regarding the heat. Before I started listening this morning I checked the temperature of the unit in several locations. (See attached photo)
At the center of the top, the unit was 66F
When I measured the air temp coming from the Right and Left grilles on top, they were 68F.

After about a 90 minutes of listening at low to mid volume:
The center of the top is now 89F.
The temperature over the two grilles is about:
147F towards the right rear
155F in the right middle
140F towards right front

130F towards the left rear
139F in the left middle
110F towards left front

Jim, maybe it should be McIntosh in summer and Luxman in winter.

Thanks Jim - that is quite warm indeed. Is there an air circulation restriction that could be causing the 30 degree difference between right/left fronts?

Bob
