Excellent. I guess that may yield about 4 Watts of glorious output power? Maybe you just answered my original question, but just to be clear, is it possible to design a PSE with beam-Tetrodes strapped as Triodes, in parallel? I believe this would be the ideal compromise between mid-range glory and reserve power, the latter being ideal to enjoy demanding classical orchestral music featuring many instruments. Thanks for your insights.

This is interesting but makes me wonder how different it is from a SE 6B4G or dual plate 2A3 amp? The dual plate 2A3 is two 45's in the same bottle, while a 6B4G is a 6.3V Octal version.

That question was asked in that other audio forum, and Dennis told me that it was that you're still retaining the sound of the 45 tube, while a 2A3 amp, despite being two 45's in the same bottle, sounds different. I also have a 2A3 amp, and it's just not as sweet as a 45 amp or the PSE 45 amp. Kinda makes me wonder what a PSE 71-A amp would sound like?...

Thanks CoGT3 I'm almost done!...
I'll stuff this one today and start prewiring The output tube socket holes are oversized to accommodate 4 and 5 pin ceramic tube sockets and 8 pin tube sockets still work too... |

One of my current amps is a 421A SET. The 421A/5998 is a IDHT that is essentially two tubes in one bottle. I use a single tube powering both channels putting out about 4-4.5 wpc. electrically it is a bit like a 2A3 but sounds much closer to a 45 in character. This is a 6SL7 > 421A amp that is really easy to drive (0.5v for full power), is super quiet and has great bass with Hashimoto output transformers. I would really like to hear it in a head-to-head with a PSE 45 amp. Unfortunately, PSE 45's are as rare as hen's teeth. That being said, I wouldn't recommend designing around the 421A. It is no longer in production and the headphone gys have driven up the price of tubes. However, with only three tubes per amp (5Y4GT, 6SL7GT, 5998/421A) the total tube cost is less than some rectifier tubes. |

Starts with an A and ends with a K. If you really want to know about the PSE 45 build, go to their Tube Forum and search the title "Repurposing old parts into a Parallel Single Ended 45 Amp". I know that posting links to other forums is not permitted. Hopefully these clues are allowable. If not, sorry in advance...

Analog Addict.......For you information, mentioning the name of another forum is not against this forum's rules. The rule says you may not post active links to other forums. Hope this clarification helps.
