Bass or not, to me it had to be the Sonus Faber Guarneri Memento! Really amazing speakers!

I was gonna ask the same thing... I need to put together a list of speakers to audition, except i'm looking to do 5.1. I'm probably 60/40 HT/music. I'm in an apartment so the room isn't huge. It's about 12' x 20' with an alcove on the side. The fronts are on the 12' side. There's 8' between them. They're front-ported so they're relatively well-behaved despite being closer to walls than i'd like.

I have to admit that i've lusted over the SF guarneri for quite some time... Not sure they're appropriate for HT though since there's no matching center...

What speakers should I be looking at under 15k (for the fronts)? Will be pairing with MC207. I really wanted to make the ultimate upgrade to Ultima Salon2s, but they're freakin' huge and they'll overwhelm the place.

There are LOTS of different price points for small speakers - I will break down the ones I like at various price points:

Under $500 -- Audioengine A5
$501-$1999 -- Dynaudio Excite X-12
$2000-$3000 -- Thiel SCS4
$3001-$6000 -- Dynaudio Special 25, Esoteric MG-10
$6000-$10K -- Dynaudio Confidence C1
$10K ++ Wilson Duette, Magico Mini, Evolution Acoustics MM1

I have not heard the Sonus that eveyone is raving about in this thread, and I am a dealer for all the ones under the 10K bracket. :-)

Sonist Concerto 2, especially if you love low-powered SET amps.

I've heard those and their matching towers, both do very well with SET amps or high power SS.

Well, since my last post, I had not yet heard Dynaudio Confidence C1s, but I finally heard a pair driven by a wonderful Octave Integrated at RMAF in mid-October and have to change my previous list to Dynaudio Confidence C1s.

The new Solus monitor, sounded better than any other speaker at the CES show for it's size.

Although not the smallest, The Kharma mini exquisite is by far the best two way floor standing speaker I have heard. But man it costs alot.
Next would be the YG Acoustics Carmel, they are small.
Stand mount for me is the Magico Q1.
In a more normal price range I have always liked the Totem Mani and Mani 2.
