Oh yeah, I nearly forgot... Since I was on the subject of "if I were going to buy a new turntable"... I did! I'll be giving the Technics to my oldest brother so he can start spinning again. He'll also be getting my old ART DJ Pre II just to get him started.

What I'll be getting is the Pro-Ject Debut Carbon Esprit SB DC in white. It should be here either Monday or Tuesday. Obviously, it comes with the carbon fiber tonearm with an Ortofon 2M Red mounted. I'll most likely upgrade to at least the Blue, if not the Bronze stylus. It also comes with the heavy acrylic platter and built-in Speed Box with speeds of 33, 45 & 78, not that I'll be using 78 at all.

And lastly, I have the nifty little Q UP auto-tonearm lift coming as well, again, either Monday or Tuesday.

Charles, you should be aware that if you upgrade to the Bronze stylus, you won't get the best out of it, on the 2M Red/Blue body. The Bronze/Black cartridge has better quality internals than the Red/Blue body, even though they are the same externally.

Very true, though people say you still get about 90% of the benefit using the Bronze stylus on the Red/Blue body. However, at the price they want for the Bronze stylus, you might as well spend the extra $100 or so and get the full kit Bronze.

Either way, all of the rave reviews the Red gets, I probably won't have the urge to upgrade anytime soon. Heck, even VPI shows the 2M Red mounted on the Scout on their site! And that's a $2200 deck! If it's good enough for them, it's certainly good enough for me.

It's here, up and running, and sounding great! Stock alignment is perfect, VTF is spot on at 1.75 gm, table is level, the ground wire stripped off the supplied IC's, using WW Oasis 7 IC's.

The TT is dead silent. No hum, no rumble, rock solid speed. And this Ortofon 2M Red does in fact sound excellent. I'm sure it'll sound better as it gets some hours on it, and it'll be accumulating quite a few hours between tonight and all day tomorrow.

And the master bedroom system got an update... I swapped out the old Pioneer Elite receiver for the newer Onkyo receiver because it has HDMI inputs. The Pioneer didn't. I added the Luxman into the mix with an old NAD 9200 cart. Teresa has been bugging me for a while for a TT, so now she has one, and loves it! I need to get another cart though. That old NAD is muddy as heck!

Thank you for the compliment! It's definitely come a long way, that's for sure.

And a few new pics...

Oh, and I "upgraded" that NAD cart to a barely used Linn K5 that I've had for years...

And it has a dust cover. That, besides the good sound, is the greatest thing about the table in my opinion.
