No speaker that I have listened to (including LaTour) does justice to large scale classical as you would hear it live in a hall. In the moment the recordings sound nice but whenever I put on Mahler, Bruckner or Shostakovich after coming home from a Concert the limitations are ridiculously obvious.

Ha! I couldn't be happier right now with my whole set-up. I am just enjoying what I have. And trying to find time to listen more!

FWIW, I have thoroughly enjoyed the Shindo synergy with my amps and pre-amps, and my recent TT change has really brought those to another experiential level. The Shindo build quality is top notch for me, and I really am happy! Add in the O96s and it shouldn't be hard to understand why I'm just chillin'.

So I don't foresee making any moves any time soon. The only thing I might quickly jump at in the next year would be DeVore's O98 or whatever the top of the trio will be. I'm hoping John goes all out with it! But when you start talking about the Latours, well, I think you have to consider the KR.

Back to some listening .

Unlike "conventional" multi-driver speakers, it doesn't make the orchestra sound like 100 unrelated musicans. I guess its all about preference and what one wants in playback. For me, I want to hear the musicans, I could care less about hearing the hall. I want to hear why they were recorded, not how they were recorded. Although the Latour will show those things extremely well, its just not my priority. Conventional speakers are often analytic tools, not music makers.
JH - what's the next "step up" from the Latour? Pluses/minuses?

It's awesome. Unbelievable, really. Have you ever read Millhauser's In the Reign of Harad IV? It's the same idea. The ULTIMATE Latours are actually very very tiny ones. They go into your ears. The only trouble is the splinters.

There always has to be something to aspire to!

I think it's the whole room becomes the horn...

Jonathan... Perhaps now would be a good time to let everyone know your involvement with Shindo.
