Default New Media Division Launched By Bowers & Wilkins

New Media Division Launched By Bowers & Wilkins Home Theater News Industry-Trade News Written by AVRev.com Friday, 11 September 2009

Every company is launching new products at CEDIA, but B&W has announced the launch of an entire new division. Based on the success of the Zeppelin iPod Dock, Bowers & Wilkins has established a New Media division, headed by Jan McNair, formerly of Netcom.
McNair says that we can expect to see the fruits of this labor very soon. "Over the next 6 months Bowers & Wilkins will launch a series of New Media products that extends the Zeppelin family and enters the PC speaker and headphone space."

In addition to expanding into new product lines, B&W will be expanding to new sales avenues. McNair stated “Bowers & Wilkins New Media division is expanding its channel partnerships to include premium retailers of these new categories of products.”

The addition of the New Media Division will certainly yield a new range of products, but McNair was quick to state that their usual attention to quality would not be sacrificed. “All [B&W New Media] products offer the digital consumer the same premium listening experience and best in class product design Bowers & Wilkins has delivered to millions of customers since 1966.”

Should be interesting to see where they take this. There are definitely brand perception challenges. They've got a huge R&D team and infrastructure.
