I used to pull my guitar rig from the side to the middle of the room to play but got tired of that so I just took the casters off of the cab and left it on the side and the improvement in the bottom end was substantial. I was reading the write up by someone from Symposium and he even suggested that if a speaker has a specially made plinth you should use the spikes and use one of there isolation shelves or pads under it. I would be willing to give the rollerblocks a try if the spikes don't give me that slight improvement I am looking for. Having everything so close is not helping things either even know the room is well treated. I have listened to the 800Ds with a boulder and ayre setup in a optimum room for listening and all I am missing is some depth and separation from the tight setup. The 600's can move the drivers well so bass is not an issue. Spiking should tighten up the midbass like I hope and I mean it only needs it ever so slightly to my ear. I have seen numerous 802D's with sound anchor stands and the people always have positive things to say about the improvement but I have never seen a 800D on them.

aaaaaaaaaah that contraption reminds me of a 383 Chevy stroker motor I had put in my camaro. The jury is still out if I like that motor better than the V10 in my M5. Torque and craziness vs engineering perfection with the Chevy putting 500hp to the wheels and the M5 500 to the crank only but in a whole better way. Maybe I can get this guy to come over and help me lift. Video Breakdown - Twitchy Weightlifter | Tosh.0 | Comedy Central

Could do this....mark the position of your speakers with blue painters tape on the carpet. Roll them all of the way out and spike them. Put the Herbies gliders under the spikes...then slide them back into place. Then remove the gliders.

Thanks Klipschfan, that is a good idea. Getting them out to the middle of the room and laying on there side is the way I would like to go. Using the gliders would give me the option to move the speaker around once it is upright and back in position, otherwise once the spikes are buried in the floor they are not going to budge for the final toe in adjustment. With the casters I could move the speakers and just roll them back and they would automatically fall into there place due to the indentation in the carpet. Once I have the spikes on it is going to be hard to get the exact same spot even with taping the floor, so this is going to work well. Now I am only looking at one person to help me instead of three or more

Tilting the speakers to one side with the help of some friends is about the only way I can think of other than laying it on its side. The instructions on the 802d indicate you can lay it down and pick it up using the "ball" on top without damage to the speaker.

It really is easy with two people. My wife and I did the 802D's when I had them.
