Thanks for the info Scott. I really do appreciate it. I'll send a pic to Dennis. I did buy the PSE second hand, but have bought Dennis' gear before directly from him and can contact him. I just don't like to bother him usually. My PSE amp was completed 9-23-16. The seller was not familiar with whether or not the amp had the IIRPS.

BTW, when I go my first Inspire pieces, which were second hand, Dennis treated me like family from day one. Might be why I got two more from him. Good business. |

I'll contact him and report back. Yes he is so gracious and nice to deal with. If I fall in love with this PSE, I'm gonna have him build me one in the copper color, to match my LP-27a preamp. My amp is "harley black". I like the color and classic look, but ultimately I love that copper finish on my preamp the most.

Dennis responded back already. That was fast! He says my amp is indeed one of the new models with the IIRPS. He also says he prefers the 5R4 rectifier in the PSE's. So that is great news! I was hoping for the new power supply design.

I've not heard it described as a feed back buffer before. My understanding is that the IIPS circuit is used as a voltage lock/regulator on the screen grid of the beam tetrode. Apparently even small variations in voltage can cause noticeable distortion and muddying of the signal. But, if the idea is to buffer the screen grid voltage against any variations produced by the upstream power supply, that description makes sense. |

Allen, Your understanding of SE amp circuitry far supersedes mine. My terminology (feedback) was not meant to imply signal feedback so was likely the wrong term. Anyway, it is how I seem to be able to get my mind around it. Thanks for the clarification. |

My oversimplified understanding is that the tube use in this part of the power line provides an interruption via the gap that electrons jump, leaving behind what Dennis has called "parasitic nasties".
Not unlike my use of T-Link Media Converters, one at my router, one at my streamer/bridge with fiber in between. Leaves the nasties behind. I'm seeing increasing mention of "galvanic isolation" at ethernet ports, usb, virtually all of the signal connection types, for the same purpose. Last edited by pstrisik; 03-02-2018 at 10:47 PM. |

Finished this FireBottle SE the other day, Dennis is listening to it with KT-150's
[IMG][/IMG] Finished this PSE with glo-tube regulation this morning [IMG][/IMG] Couldn't resist lighting it up with some of my tubes! [IMG][/IMG] |

What is the tube layout and purpose of "glo-tube regulation"? |
