sadly 'FleaBay' has many a seller like that ......... hope it was insured.

That is horrible and such a disgrace.

The insurance may not cover if they believe the package was not safe enough.

Many well-intentioned, albeit ignorant sellers on eBay mistakenly pack McIntosh equipment tightly. That’s usually the smart way to pack most items, however, putting packing material directly against the knobs of McIntosh equipment transfers any energy from dropping or jarring the box directly to the glass. I purchased an MR80 tuner that the seller shipped w/o original packing material - it didn’t survive. The seller discounted the sale price to make it worth my while.

Like Dan said, an original McIntosh double box is a must!
