New Cyclone RCM w/ liquid dispensing

I of course, or probably no one else on the street has yet had the opportunity to rip open a Cyclone, and see what makes it tick.

Basically all machines that have come before it, have used parts that are not hard to attain.

I would say in a quick rundown of the Cyclone, first off, an Alu chassis, and body. Nothing to go wrong there unless you throw the unit down a flight of stairs, or out a 3rd story window.

The critical parts, more than likely the very same parts that are utilized on other VPI RCMs, such as the 16.5-17-Typhoon. I cannot forsee the Cyclone possessing a better "critical" parts consist than the flagship Typhoon RCM.

These machines, all of them, if you have a pittance of some shadetree mechanical knowledge are easy to use, easy to maintain and fix.

My own 16.5 sports some good mods, I could run it 24/7 till the cows come home.

I cannot post pics, but a quick peek at Audio Intelligent's site, under "RCM Museum", and you'll see my 16.5, the mods, the methods I used to modify, and some chat about what those mods brought.

I'll most likely be 6' under, my 16.5 will still be working somewhere.

It is definitely DOA, but they'll trickle down some of the tech to the 16.5. I'd still follow through if I had a backorder, sounds like it's even better value (seeing as they've deemed it not financially viable), repair/parts will be fine (VPI great in this respect), and resale should also be good because of the above.

Not sure what they'll be, might be some dispensing pump-brush option, like the model 17-Typhoon?

Since I have not seen any comments from VPI concerning the life or death or of the Cyclone I will continue to believe that the Cyclone will be delivered as promised. As far as my previous comments, I feel VPI will support anything they sell. as they always have. I have been a happy VPI customer and I see no reason for that to change

Perhaps taking stock in what I wrote, or in what I previously read, in that this entire story of such discontinuation of the Cyclone is rock solid "truth" as I've been recently informed by another VPI Dealer that it is not discontinued.

That I've now heard that the Cyclone is not being discontinued, but perhaps might go through some further re-designs/refinements- on the case, and its construction in future production runs.

Sorry that my initial "Chicken Little" post seemed a little bit alarmist.

It will only continue in as much as any parts deemed an improvement on the current 16.5 will go into either a next gen 16.5 albeit at a premium, or into a new model above it but with a timber housing.

Very compact looking . . . much smaller than my HW-17 - but I do love that old machine.

They are only building the ones to fulfil backorders, it will not be available after that.
